Job summary

Vanguard’s Model Risk Management team seeks an experienced model risk professional to oversee independent validation of AI/ML and generative AI models across the enterprise. You will guide governance, provide credible challenge to model assumptions and methodologies, and collaborate with data scientists, developers, and technology partners.

You will shape validation standards, monitor ongoing performance, and contribute to policy across the full model lifecycle while mentoring junior colleagues

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

• Lead independent validation and challenge of AI/ML and generative AI models across the enterprise
• Assess models through lifecycle including monitoring, change management, and remediations of findings
• Provide clear communication of validation findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Develop and enhance validation procedures for consistent, risk-based oversight
• Contribute to model risk policy and standards across the full model lifecycle
• Advise stakeholders on Model Risk policy and relevant standards
• Identify emerging risks across AI/ML portfolios and surface to leadership
• Coach and mentor junior team members
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned
