Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Scientist in AI and Biostatistics in Maidenhead, UK. The role blends biostatistics, AI, and software development to create validated, scalable AI-enabled statistical solutions for pharma research and manufacturing.

You will work across domains with LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows, ensuring statistical soundness, reproducibility, and governance in a regulated environment. Collaboration with experts and platform teams is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with strong quantitative training in statistics or data science.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical modelling, study design and validation.
• Fluent English communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Make statistical, mechanistic and predictive models accessible to AI workflows via interfaces.
• Be accountable for statistical integrity of AI-enabled solutions and generalisability.
• Design, develop and deploy AI-enabled scientific applications combining stats and ML.
• Develop agentic workflows that retrieve evidence and support interpretation.
• Prepare and contextualise scientific data with provenance and uncertainty controls.
• Collaborate with modelling and automation teams on iterative workflows and governance.
• Work with platform and security teams to deploy applications with access controls and logging.
• Design end-to-end architectures for production AI applications and APIs.
• Test applications and evaluate retrieval, tool use, and outputs with domain oversight.
• Contribute to reusable AI capabilities and technical standards across DMS.
• Mentor statisticians and scientists in AI and modern computational methods.
