Job summary

RSM UK is seeking a Senior AI Automation Engineer to design and deliver production-grade AI systems within our Tax Technology team. You will build Python services, automate workflows, and integrate AI tools across enterprise platforms.

The role focuses on creating scalable, observable solutions in a governed environment and leading technical design and reviews. Hybrid working and a generous benefits package are offered.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI agents and multi-step workflows for internal tax use cases.
• Develop Python-based services and automation pipelines for production use.
• Integrate AI systems with internal platforms via APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Orchestrate workflows across Copilot Studio, Azure AI / Foundry, and internal systems.
• Build reusable connectors, tools, and agent capabilities; implement CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, observable, and maintainable in enterprise environments.
• Lead technical design and code reviews.

Our Tax Technology team is dynamic, fast-paced and mission driven. We are building a specialist AI engineering capability within our internal tax technology function to design and deliver AI-powered agents, automated workflows, and scalable integrations across enterprise platforms. The Senior AI Automation Engineer role sits at the intersection of applied AI, software engineering, and automation. You will build production-grade AI systems, orchestrate complex workflows, and help define engineering standards, while supporting the development of early-career engineers.

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on delivering working systems into production within a governed enterprise environment. You will see your work used quickly in real operations, with AI tools and automation adopted directly by internal tax teams. The focus is on delivering high-impact solutions, measuring outcomes, and iterating based on real-world usage.

You will make an impact by

• Designing and building AI agents and multi-step workflows for internal tax use cases
• Developing Python-based services and automation pipelines for production use
• Integrating AI systems with internal platforms using APIs and event-driven architectures

Core Engineering

• Strong Python engineering skills (APIs, testing, modular design, async processing)
• Experience building production-grade applications
• Comfortable working across an AI-enabled stack, with depth in some areas and willingness to grow others

AI & Automation

• Experience building production AI/LLM applications, agents, or workflows (e.g. Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, or equivalent)
• Understanding of agent patterns, orchestration, tool use, and LLM limitations

Integration & APIs

• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, authentication, and system integration
• Experience building reusable services and connectors
• MCP or similar integration patterns desirable

Cloud & Platforms

• Microsoft Azure experience (AI services, Functions, containers)
• Exposure to Copilot Studio or similar ecosystems beneficial

DevOps & Delivery

• CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing
• Deployment, monitoring, and production reliability
• Containerisation (Docker / Kubernetes / Azure Container Apps)
