Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced coach to help cross-functional squads in product, engineering and data become more effective and outcome‑driven. You will facilitate workshops, mentor leaders, and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify improvement opportunities and sustain practical change across teams.

The role demands pragmatic judgment, excellent facilitation skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders beyond formal authority.

Qualifications

  • Experience helping multiple cross-functional product, technology or data teams become more effective.
  • Experience working in high-performing product and engineering environments.
  • Broad understanding of modern product development, software engineering and delivery practices.
  • Experience improving flow, collaboration, quality, customer value or organisational capability.
  • Ability to coach and influence individual contributors through senior leaders.
  • Confidence moving between coaching, mentoring, teaching, facilitation and direct advice.
  • Experience using evidence and data to understand problems and measure improvements.
  • Strong judgement and pragmatism.
  • Comfortable operating in regulated, governed, constrained or traditional environments.
  • Real-world experience, a strong point of view and judgement to adapt approach to the situation.
  • Experience with Scrum, Kanban, XP, DevOps or continuous delivery can be useful.
  • Experience with scaled Agile frameworks is not required and advocacy for SAFe is not sought.

Job description

  • Coach, mentor and teach squads, leaders and individuals
  • Improve cross-functional collaboration between Product, Engineering, Data, Science and other disciplines
  • Improve flow by reducing batch sizes, slicing work effectively and shortening lead times
  • Support squads in becoming outcome-focused and self-organising
  • Facilitate workshops, retrospectives and difficult conversations
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify improvement opportunities and assess changes
  • Improve interactions between squads and other teams, reducing friction and organisational bottlenecks
  • Develop training, tools and practical approaches for multiple teams
  • Support formation of new squads and improve onboarding across Technology, Product and Data
  • Work alongside squads and leaders to identify opportunities and make practical, sustainable changes
  • Help teams become capable of improving without relying on the coach
