Job summary

Oxford Dynamics is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design and ship agentic AI systems in production. You will own end-to-end pipelines, from data ingestion through inference, including model integration and deployment, with reliability and security as top priorities.

This is a contract, outside IR35, with an initial 6-month term and strong likelihood of extension. Start is immediate, and the role offers a hybrid pattern: 2 days on-site at Harwell, Oxfordshire, with the remainder remote

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience (typically 6+ years) with senior/lead track record.
• Commercial experience building multi-agent or agentic AI systems in production.
• Strong Python and hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, Haystack).

Responsibilities

• Design and build multi-agent AI systems from the ground up, including orchestration and tooling.
• Engineer for production: writing clean, tested, maintainable code with reliability as a first-class concern.
• Integrate large language and vision-language models into real reasoning and retrieval pipelines.
• Deploy to cloud, on-premises, and offline environments with secure deployment patterns.
• Own end-to-end production pipelines from data ingestion to inference.
• Develop evaluation, observability, and guardrails to demonstrate real system behavior.
