About The Role
To provide management, leadership, and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Agents, Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and Foremen.
What you'll be doing
Core
- Live the Balfour Beatty Values
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
- Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
- Motivate the section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/coaching as appropriate
Health Safety & Environmental
- Set targets and KPIs in line with Project/Business objectives and monitor performance
- Conduct periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan
- Assist Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering/review
- Propose improvement options and actions / instigate as appropriate
- Lead periodic risk reviews and update the Project Risk Register
- Monitor the effectiveness of the H & S Management System
- Stay updated with changes in legislation and communicate to the team
Engineering Control
- Ensure sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section with appropriate ability levels
- Identify and arrange training as required
Quality
- Set targets and KPIs aligned with Project objectives and monitor performance
- Ensure site audits are undertaken and address findings
- Lead/instigate actions for quality improvement
- Implement systems and processes to manage construction quality
- Participate in improvement-focused working groups
- Own the Handover Documentation for the Section
Productivity
- Set targets and KPIs based on key outputs and monitor progress, reporting on Section performance
- Analyze and improve fully resourced programme schedules
- Manage sub-contractor performance based on KPIs
- Produce operational target programmes reflecting the overall construction schedule
- Chair Short Interval Control meetings to review site performance
Who we're looking for
Core
- Ability to clearly communicate safe system of work requirements and suggest improvements
- Ownership of tasks with clear communication of outcomes; experienced in team management and effective task execution
- Strong work ethic and flexibility for unsociable hours/nights
- Ability to work independently and seek opportunities proactively
- Hold a valid driving license and CSCS Card
- SMSTS qualified
- Excellent teamwork and leadership skills, capable of working independently
- Decisive with a solution-oriented approach
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Good report writing skills
- Proficient IT skills
- Demonstrates desired behaviors aligning with business, project, and team objectives
Health Safety & Environmental
- Knowledge of method statements and coaching others in documentation
- Guidance in Accident/Incident Investigation principles
- Good understanding of current H & S legislation
- Proficient in applying Company Systems
- Innovative in enhancing safe systems of work
Engineering Control
- Experience in resource allocation and upskilling
- Competent in reading technical drawings and understanding design management principles
Quality
- Understanding of Business Management Systems and processes
- Experience with handover and self-certification of works, including management of the same
Productivity
- Ability to analyze and improve stage programmes using accepted software
- Understanding of sub-contractor KPIs and performance management
- Ability to adapt programmes dynamically on site
- Experience managing pavement reconstruction, surfacing, and infrastructure works, including testing and handover
