General Summary:

This position reports to the Aerodynamics Team Leader or their designee; is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for executing aerodynamic development using CFD and wind tunnel testing. Assists department leaders in mentoring with a key focus on wind tunnel model preparation, testing quality, data analysis, and CAD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Improve the aerodynamic development methodology and processes to enhance the aerodynamic performance of the car.
  • Participate in wind tunnel testing, coordinating all aspects necessary for a successful test.
  • Analyze aerodynamic modelling (experimental & numerical simulation) results and synthesize alternative designs.
  • Mentor and guide team members.
  • Write and maintain procedures and test plans.
  • Create and preserve accurate production documentation for test parts.
  • Construct reports to communicate findings.
  • Direct or undertake surface definition and concept scheming.
  • Develop aerodynamic analysis tools.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aerodynamics Team Leader or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including an Engineering University Degree with a specialization in Aerodynamics or equivalent desired. 6 years of work experience in a professional motorsports environment.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English language.
  • Strong technical background in racing cars.
  • Proven experience with CFD software and CAD software.
  • Excellent understanding of aerodynamics and fluid analysis.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis and vehicle dynamics.
  • Ability to work to a high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills and analytical problem-solving.
  • Teamwork skills and ability to work with personnel at all levels.
  • Empathetic approach and ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist others.
Equipment and Applications:
  • Computer with Microsoft Office and engineering packages including wind tunnel, basic hand tools, fabrication tools.
  • Experience with CAD, especially CATIA/3DX.
  • Data Acquisition experience is helpful.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The role requires working in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, with occasional domestic and international travel, and flexible hours including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.
