Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a forward-thinking and highly motivated Band 5 Admin Team Lead to join Merton children’s Single Point of Access (SPA) team in Central London Community Healthcare. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and highly skilled admin manager to join our children’s SPA team.


Merton children’s SPA is responsible for processing and registering new referrals, booking clinics, updating waiting lists, and communicating appointment-related information to patients, carers, and health professionals. The service aims to make effective use of resources, reduce duplication, and ensure that referrals are efficiently and safely managed through the system.


The Merton SPA team is the front-facing single point of access for Merton Children’s Services. The post holder will need excellent communication, customer service, administration, and IT skills to support the team in delivering a high-quality service to our clients and professional partners. The applicant will need to show skills in management and supporting the running of a busy team. The role is based at Merton civic centre.


The successful post holder will be supported in developing skills and knowledge through the Performance Appraisal and Development Review.

  1. Provide leadership to resolve day-to-day administration related management issues within the service area.
  2. Assist Clinical Business Unit Manager and Administration/Service Managers to monitor SPA activity and ensure that it is in line with contracts and that the service works collectively to ensure optimal outcomes for service users.
  3. Play a lead role in ensuring that all services within the SPA record activity in real-time, accurately, completely, and consistently to enable monitoring, tracking, and improvement of performance and to satisfy reporting requirements.
  4. Assist with the implementation of IM&T developments for the SPA.
  5. Develop a customer service focus within the SPA promoting engagement and facilitating the promotion and easy use of CLCH services.
  6. Assist Administration/Service Managers to produce guidelines and protocols for SPA and determine locally agreed practice based on professional guidelines where available and best practice evidence.
  7. Set up and develop administrative systems, processes, and procedures to support the efficient and effective management of the SPA against agreed financial and activity targets.
  8. Contribute to the development and delivery of the CLCH strategies and policies in the SPA, and ensure that the administration service supports the delivery of NHS requirements by participating in working groups as required.
  9. Actively encourage innovation and improvement from others.
