Job description

We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, accepting of all, and free from discrimination and bias.

We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose, and our approach, which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care. Our work continues to support this strategy: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources, and abilities available to people’.

Our Values

In line with our One Coventry Values, we aim to ensure our communities are represented across our workforce. We are committed to being a truly inclusive organization that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled, and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents, ensuring equity and respect are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values are:

  • Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
  • Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
  • Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
  • Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
  • Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
  • Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.

What is the job role?

The Adaptations team works with Occupational Therapists and Housing Improvement Officers to administer the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG). This grant is awarded to eligible disabled people to adapt their homes for safety and independence, such as providing ramps, converting bathrooms into level-access showers, and widening doors.

The administrator's role involves allocating work to housing improvement officers via an automated system, completing initial checks on new applications, answering queries from the public and contractors, escalating issues when needed, managing all administration tasks for the DFG service, and inputting invoices into Business World.

This position is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.

Who are we looking for?

We seek an individual with experience in an administrative role, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage all DFG-related administration. Prior experience with data input and document production is essential. The candidate should be capable of resolving queries from the public, in-house services, and contractors effectively.
