Senior Administrative Assistant, Central Admin (7389), Lionacleit or Stornoway
37 hours per week, maternity cover
£30,369 - £33,186 per annum, inclusive of £2,859 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

Based in the Lionacleit Education Centre, the post holder will have overall responsibility for managing the administration support service for the Central Administration Team ensuring that all resources are efficiently and effectively deployed. The post holder will support the Head of Service, and other senior officers within the department in all aspects of their work, to ensure that all business plan objectives are adequately and timeously achieved.

Duties will include managing and co-ordinating administrative and finance tasks within the Central Admin Team; line managing all staff within the section and undertaking staff recruitment as required; carrying out performance appraisals for all staff within the section, preparing training and development plans as appropriate; and attending as the Department’s representative at internal/external meetings as required including deputising for Line Manager at meetings etc as necessary.

You must have a good working knowledge of administrative processes and procedures. You must be proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software and able to produce a wide variety of letters, documents, spreadsheets. The ability to accept responsibility, take decisions, remain calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.

It is essential that you are educated to HNC level in Administration (or equivalent) or have 3 years of experience of administrative work.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
