About the Role:

The Specialty Metaline remit includes Aviation, Cyber, Credit, Surety, Mortgage, Treaty Personal Accident, and Crisis Management throughout LMRe on a global basis. This role will provide actuarial pricing support and portfolio analytics to improve business performance, growth, and meet strategic goals within the Specialty meta-line Actuarial team. Core responsibilities include case pricing, pricing transformation support, portfolio analytics for strategic decision-making, and planning initiatives.

You will work closely with:

  • Underwriting: To enhance underwriting decision-making through account pricing, portfolio analysis, and product development.
  • Reserving: To understand reserve drivers, communicate findings, and improve pricing/reserving outputs based on feedback.
  • Finance: To coordinate with finance partners and understand business results.

About the Department & Team:

The LMRe Actuarial team evaluates business performance and provides risk-based insights for strategy and risk mitigation. The team covers pricing, business planning, data & analytics, capital management, exposure management, and reinsurance strategy. The team comprises about 20 actuaries globally, supporting underwriters across Latin America, Miami, Bermuda, London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Amsterdam, and Cologne. The role reports to the Pricing Head of Reinsurance Specialty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account pricing and performance monitoring.
  • Support development of underwriter rating tools, including model maintenance, assumptions, R&D, and portfolio metrics.
  • Lead pricing modernization initiatives with online rating platforms.
  • Support local and global pricing standards, analytics, and new product initiatives.

Business Planning:

  • Assist the Pricing Head in planning exercises.
  • Conduct deep dives into performance segmentation to inform financial planning, underwriting appetite, and growth strategies.
  • Analyze market landscape to maintain LMRe’s market leadership in Specialty classes.

Adherence to regulatory requirements and demonstrating behaviors aligned with Conduct Risk Policy and Liberty Values are essential.

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Actuary.
  • Experience in Specialty Reinsurance or Pricing preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage ownership, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and an interest in Python.
  • Ability to solve technical problems and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and develop.
  • Educational requirements: 2.1 or better in a numerate/scientific degree and A/A* in A-Level Maths or equivalent.
