Senior Actuarial Analyst

Department: Capital Modelling

Reporting to: Deputy Head of Model Development

Job Description

This role works within the Capital Modelling team, focusing on developing AXIS's internal model built on the Tyche software platform. Responsibilities include updating and developing the internal model & reporting tools, improving parameterisation methodologies, updating model parameters, and conducting validation tests and deep-dives into model performance.

Job Responsibilities
Model Development
  • Maintaining and developing the internal model system and supporting tools for inputs, outputs, and reporting
  • Developing and implementing new modelling methods
  • Improving model performance, especially for runtime and memory use
  • Understanding and communicating the limitations of modelling methodologies
  • Undertaking ad hoc investigations and developments as needed
Parameterisation
  • Developing parameterisation methodologies and tools
  • Updating model parameters and explaining their movements
  • Communicating limitations of parameterisation methodologies and input data
Validation and Governance
  • Validating model methods and parameters to ensure proper operation
  • Designing tools and processes for model governance compliance
Leadership and Relationships
  • Presenting and explaining results to various company levels
  • Engaging with teams and stakeholders for timely results delivery
  • Providing advice and training to the capital team
About You

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in an actuarial risk environment

Desired Skills & Characteristics:

  • Highly computer literate, familiar with spreadsheets, databases, and systems
  • Experience with capital modelling software such as Tyche, Igloo, or ReMetrica
  • Tyche experience preferred but not essential; willingness to learn and understand the model deeply is key
  • Coding experience is a plus
  • Enthusiastic about asking questions and understanding work implications
  • Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to structure analyses and models clearly
Role Factors
