Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in Taunton, Somerset, seeks an Interim & Executive Management professional to lead the Active Travel Capital Programme. The Active Travel Project Manager will oversee projects valued at over £9 million, guiding development from planning through pre-construction and ensuring compliance with funding rules.

The role is 29 months, 22 hours per week, typically one day in the office with two remote, with funding constraints and potential extension.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing infrastructure, transport, highways, regeneration, or active travel projects.
• Experience leading projects through planning, design, procurement and delivery phases.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with public sector governance.

Responsibilities

• Support the Service Manager and Principal Transport Planner in developing and delivering active travel schemes.
• Lead projects through development, design, scheme preparation and pre-construction phases.
• Manage projects day-to-day until transition to construction and NEC project management arrangements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop robust schemes and coordinate consultations with communities and partners.
• Ensure compliance with funding requirements, design standards, and guidance.
