This role plays a crucial part in supporting essential local services by ensuring the accurate and lawful administration of business rates. We are committed to maintaining high standards in service delivery, and effective revenue collection is fundamental to this objective.

Working Style:

You'll be based in the Borough for three days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing:

As a Senior Account Officer, you will help ensure that our business rates service operates efficiently, transparently and in accordance with legislation. Your responsibilities will cover the full billing and recovery cycle, including issuing accurate bills, managing exemptions, and responding to formal correspondence from businesses. You will identify and address instances of rate avoidance, support legal proceedings where appropriate, and work closely with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure the smooth delivery of services.

This is a detail-oriented role where precision and consistency are essential. You will be expected to maintain and update systems accurately, provide guidance where necessary, and remain informed of regulatory developments to ensure ongoing compliance and service quality.
