Job summary

Anderson Knight, in partnership with its client, seeks a Senior Accounts Assistant to join an expanding accountancy practice. The role covers accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT submissions, and management accounts support across a varied client portfolio.

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA, with prior practice experience, strong Excel skills, and a keen eye for detail. You will liaise with clients, meet deadlines, and contribute to a supportive, professional

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage workloads effectively.
• Confident communicating with clients and building strong working relationships.
• Strong IT skills, including experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Complete bookkeeping duties and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure submissions are completed within deadlines.
• Assist with the preparation of management accounts.
• Complete bank, control account and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support with the preparation of personal and business tax returns where required.
• Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve accountancy queries.
• Review financial information, identifying discrepancies and investigating any issues.
• Ensure client records are maintained accurately and in line with relevant accounting standards.
• Support junior members of the team and assist with general practice duties as required.
