Job summary

Parker Meggitt is seeking an Accounting Leader to analyse financial data, ensure the integrity of transactions, and support business decisions at our site in the United Kingdom. You will lead financial reporting, balance sheet analysis, and regulatory filings, while guiding a finance team and improving control environments.

The role requires extensive accounting experience, strong GAAP/IFRS knowledge, and proficiency with ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• CIMA, ACCA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Significant progressive accounting experience including general ledger, reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience; strong GAAP/IFRS knowledge.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel; BI tools preferred.
• Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile complex balance sheet and general ledger accounts and post/review journal entries to ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete, and properly supported.
• Lead and/or supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, including income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules.
• Review, analyse, and interpret financial information; prepare complex financial reports and accounting statements for management decision-making.
• Prepare and review reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation schedules, cash flow reports, accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports, repayment schedules, and required regulatory reports and filings.
• Provide technical accounting advice and guidance within areas of expertise to functional and operational leaders, helping them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial results, and manage their financial responsibilities.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting controls by monitoring compliance with accounting principles, applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
• Protect confidential financial information and maintain customer, employee, and business confidence through appropriate data handling and discretion.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, increased efficiency, and enhanced financial reporting accuracy.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement practical solutions that improve accounting processes and controls.
• Maintain current professional and technical knowledge through training, professional publications, industry networks, and continuing education.
• Coach, mentor, and develop less-experienced accounting staff; provide guidance in resolving technical accounting issues and day-to-day challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support business objectives, audit requirements, planning activities, and operational decision-making.
• Manage the ERP system for the financials with support from a third party provider.
