Everest Advisors (Uk), Ltd. in London seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Syndicate Accounting team. The role ensures accurate and timely completion of syndicate group and regulatory reporting, including related entities.

You will oversee US GAAP and UK GAAP reporting as required and contribute to control improvements. The successful candidate will lead the Syndicate Accountant and Assistant Accountant, maintain ledger integrity, and collaborate with IT, Underwriting, Claims and other Finance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred.
  • Experience with statutory and regulatory reporting is desirable.
  • Strong detail orientation and ability to work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly/quarterly GL close for Syndicate and related entities for US and UK GAAP.
  • Guide Syndicate Accountant & Assistant Accountant and review their work.
  • Monitor ledger integrity; investigate unusual balances and drive improvements.
  • Strengthen controls over GL balances and perform reconciliations.
  • Liaise with IT, Underwriting, Claims, Credit Control and Reinsurance for processes.
  • Support FP&A, tax, actuarial, reporting, Treasury and Group head office activities.
  • Coordinate and lead external audits; provide documentation and explanations.
  • Provide support to other members of finance and syndicate reporting teams.

About the Role

Senior Accountant to join the Syndicate Accounting team at Everest. The role ensures accurate and timely completion of syndicate group and regulatory reporting requirements, including those of the related legal entities (Service Company, Corporate Member and Managing Agent). The candidate should have a strong understanding of Lloyd's syndicate operations, regulatory reporting, financial accounting and control principles.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Support the Syndicate Financial Controller by taking leadership of the monthly/quarterly general ledger close of the Syndicate and related legal entities for both Group reporting (US GAAP) and local reporting (UK GAAP).
  • Guide the day‑to‑day activities of the Syndicate Accountant & Assistant Accountant and review/approve their work as required.
  • Monitor ledger integrity and investigate unusual balances or transactions, identify opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain and strengthen controls over general ledger account balances, ensure accurate recording of balances between years of account and classes of business, and perform timely reconciliation of bank accounts, technical accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Liaise with other departments (e.g. IT, Underwriting, Claims, Credit Control and Reinsurance) to support change activities and financial processes.
  • Support the analysis, planning and reporting activities of other Finance departments (FP&A, tax, actuarial and reporting), Treasury and Group head office.
  • Coordinate and lead the external audit of the syndicate and related entities, liaising with internal and external auditors and providing necessary documentation, analysis and explanations.
  • Provide support to other members of the finance and syndicate reporting teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial and regulatory landscape of a general insurance company required; syndicate accounting knowledge preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication skills, ability to interact at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP is preferable.
