Job description

The Financial team is a centralized finance team working closely with the Services to provide financial advice and expertise. You will play a crucial role in supporting the objectives of the Finance Team in building relationships, maintaining value for money, and developing innovative ways of working.

We work in a hybrid manner, combining office days with remote work. As part of this team, you will be expected to work from the office for a minimum of two days per week.

This role supports the Place directorate and requires experience in Revenue and/or Capital.

About the Role
  1. You will collaborate with other Finance professionals to deliver cost management, conduct budget reviews, and identify efficiencies across directorates.
  2. You will build effective relationships with finance colleagues and stakeholders in the service area, using your diplomacy and interpersonal skills to support and influence decision-making.
  3. You will ensure accurate financial records are maintained on our general ledger and supporting systems.
  4. You will develop and maintain financial monitoring systems.
  5. You will prepare, analyze, and interpret financial information for accounts, statutory returns, and performance reports.
  6. You will support, advise, and supervise junior colleagues, conducting quality reviews to ensure standards and deadlines are met.

Experience in business partnering across finance and non-finance teams, preparing budgets, and engaging diverse stakeholders is essential. Prior experience in a Local Authority is not mandatory.
