Job summary

Clearline Recruitment Ltd in Brighton, East Sussex, seeks a Senior Accountant for a full-time role within an established practice. You will manage key client portfolios, ensure deadlines, advise on accounting and tax changes, and prepare VAT returns and statutory accounts.

You will also lead and develop junior staff, oversee workflow, and contribute to client advisory work while aiming for timely monthly billing and high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in an accountancy practice.
• Accounting/bookkeeping qualification or qualified by experience
• Strong working knowledge of Sage and Xero
• Excellent organisation and time management
• Strong people management and leadership skills
• Confident written and verbal communication
• Ability to analyse financial information accurately
• Excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of key clients and build strong relationships
• Ensure client submissions and deadlines are met
• Advise clients on relevant accountancy and tax changes
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Prepare statutory accounts for partnerships and limited companies
• Prepare Directors' personal tax returns and review dividend positions
• Manage workflow and support the wider accounting team
• Oversee Bookkeepers and Account Juniors
• Train and develop junior staff
• Prepare P11Ds and work towards monthly billing targets
