Job Description

| Salary £44,711-£49,764 per annum | Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week | County Hall, Preston / Hybrid |

Join us as a Senior Accountant in the Financial Management Team and contribute to the financial health and stability of our council while advancing your career in a supportive and innovative environment.

As the Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Monitor and report on service budgets, collaborating with Senior Stakeholders and Directors to align the Service's budget needs with the council's financial objectives.
  • Develop strategies to address financial challenges and resource constraints, participating in key decision-making processes to ensure your advice influences outcomes.
  • Manage a small team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
  • Be part of the management team of the Financial Management service, contributing to the development and shaping of future service delivery, and influencing decision-making across the finance department.
About you:
  • Qualified Accountant (CCAB or equivalent) and/or substantial experience in a senior finance role.
  • A strategic, solutions-focused approach to local government finance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, explain complex financial information, and handle difficult conversations professionally.
