Job summary

Vertical Advantage Ltd in London seeks a Senior Accountant to lead month-end, produce management accounts for two entities, and support the UK & Ireland finance function. The role reports to the Finance Manager and partners with operations to drive control, accuracy and initiatives.

You'll manage balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, VAT, and the annual audit while mentoring Assistant Accountants. Hybrid working offered with time split between the London head office and home.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is required.
• Strong technical accounting skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel and the ability to pick up new financial systems quickly.
• Proactive, personable communicator able to engage with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Job description

We're partnering with a leading international technical apparel group to recruit a Senior Accountant for its London head office. The group supplies specialist performance clothing across sport, outdoor and workwear markets, and sells through wholesale, retail and e-commerce channels in the UK and overseas.

This is a broad, hands on role reporting to the Finance Manager for the UK & Ireland. You'll be central to the smooth running of the finance function and a trusted partner to the wider operational team.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the month end process and producing management accounts for two entities, including prepayments, accruals and fixed assets
• Reconciling and managing all balance sheet accounts for monthly review
• Leading the monthly P&L analysis and presenting it in review meetings
• Working closely with the marketing team to prepare the annual budget and control ongoing spend
• Supporting the wider annual budgeting process
• Preparing information for the annual audit and corporation tax computation
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Overseeing postings and period close on the ERP system
• Providing financial information and support to operational departments
• Guiding and supporting the Assistant Accountants
• Driving process improvements, strong controls, and accurate, timely reporting

Requirements:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Strong technical accounting skills and excellent attention to detail
• Advanced Excel, plus the ability to pick up new financial systems quickly
• A proactive, personable communicator who is comfortable working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• A self starter who is pragmatic and tenacious, and keeps looking for ways to improve
• Organised and effective under pressure, and adaptable when priorities change
