Job summary

TaxAssist Accountants Newbury is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our on-site team in Newbury. You will manage a portfolio of individuals and SMEs, preparing accounts and handling tax returns, VAT, and payroll with accuracy and great client service.

You will work with the Director and Practice Manager to recruit new clients and maintain high service standards across fixed-fee engagements.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA or AAT qualified with at least 2 years of experience with SMEs.
• Strong accounting skills including accounts preparation and tax returns.
• Experience with online bookkeeping and accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, TaxCalc).
• Good communication and client service skills with ability to build long-term relationships.
• Organised with ability to manage multiple deadlines in a busy office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sole trader and limited company accounts.
• Draft and file personal and business tax returns.
• Manage VAT and payroll processes.
• Oversee a portfolio of clients and support business development with the Director and Practice Manager.
