Job summary

bk plus is seeking a Senior Accountant in Wolverhampton to join our growing practice. You will handle statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, while nurturing client relationships and providing proactive accounting advice.

You will also prepare corporation tax, self-assessment returns, VAT submissions, and mentor junior staff, contributing to a collaborative, career‑driven environment that values quality and work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience).
• Experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and UK accounting standards.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for various entities.
• Manage a portfolio of clients and provide proactive advice.
• Prepare and review corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns.
• Review VAT returns and liaise with HMRC as needed.

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Managing a portfolio of clients, providing proactive advice and maintaining strong client relationships
• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
• Reviewing and submitting VAT returns.
• Liaising effectively with clients, HMRC and colleagues to resolve queries and provide technical support.
• Assisting with the development and mentoring of junior team members
• Supporting managers and partners with client and office related matters.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience)
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and UK accounting standards
• Experience managing client relationships and handling a varied portfolio
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
