About the role:

We are a small, friendly, and ambitious local authority. Adult Social Care is a priority for the Council and has received significant investment.

There is a lot of impactful work happening in Adult Social Care. We are proud to be the only local authority in England to have abolished charges for support at home and in the community.

We support and develop our staff to do their best work and make a positive difference. We are committed to high-quality leadership, management, supervision, and ongoing career development.

We offer excellent CPD opportunities, including the Get Ahead programme to support your career aspirations.

We value our staff and prioritize wellbeing, offering hybrid working, regular ASC staff forums, staff groups (e.g., disability and EDI groups), and Wellbeing days for Social Worker posts. All offices provide free tea and coffee, and staff enjoy local and national discounts.

We are recruiting a Senior Accountant for the Social Care Finance Department. The role involves overseeing and managing the GBP31.5m Home Care and Direct Payments budgets, including budget setting, in-year monitoring, and account closure. You will raise significant issues with senior management and recommend corrective actions.

You will advise services and managers on self-service, financial governance, and delegations, ensuring compliance with the Council's financial regulations.

You will assist in providing professional financial advice and analysis to support the Council’s strategic plans and Medium-Term Financial Strategy, including financial modelling for retendered Home Care services and supporting ASC reform plans.

Our hybrid working model provides mobile IT equipment and hot desk facilities across borough offices. Professional supervision and practice-based support are provided.

Our mission is to be the best council. If you are driven, enthusiastic, and seeking a rewarding environment, we look forward to your application.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS Check with Adults Barred List.
