Job description

A well established accountancy practice based in the Hyde area of Stockport, Cheshire is recruiting for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their SME team. This is a full-time, permanent position in a growing group of firms in the area. They are offering ACCA study support for part-qualified Accountants and fully qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. This is a hands-on and review role, overseeing a small team and working closely with a designated group of SME clients.

Senior Accountant Job Overview

  1. Responsible for a group of clients.
  2. Reviewing work that has been prepared by assistants and Accountants.
  3. Preparing accounts, VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and any other compliance, ensuring a consistent and compliant service is delivered and statutory filing dates are met.
  4. Bookkeeping for clients using Xero, Free Agent, and QuickBooks as needed.
  5. Training Junior members of the team.
  6. Dealing with all communications for clients, both written and verbally.
  7. Making sure that the clients are invoiced at the right time, and for any additional work.
  8. Tax planning with clients.
  9. Ensuring the clients are registered for the relevant taxes with HMRC.
  10. Making sure Companies House records are kept up to date and accurate for the clients, ensuring that any forms needed are completed and filed at Companies House.
  11. Processing payroll for clients.
  12. Supporting the Senior Management Team on growth, meeting and speaking with prospective clients, and attending events as and when required.

Senior Accountant Job Requirements

  1. Working towards ACCA, qualified or qualified by experience.
  2. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  3. 5 years minimum experience in a UK accountancy practice.
  4. Strong organisation and analytical skills.
  5. The ability to build trusting relationships with relevant stakeholders.

Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits

£32,000 - £45,000 per annum
Based in Hyde, Stockport, Cheshire
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days with continuous service
