We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing accountancy practice based in Milton Keynes. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients across a range of structures, including limited companies, LLPs, sole traders, and individuals requiring personal tax services.

You will oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts, while ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build lasting client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse client portfolio, including limited companies, LLPs, sole traders, and personal tax clients
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP
• Complete and review corporation tax, personal tax, and partnership tax returns
• Provide proactive tax planning and business advice to clients
• Ensure all financial reporting and compliance requirements are met on time
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
• Conduct financial analysis to support client decision-making and business strategy
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and providing feedback
• Liaise with HMRC and other external stakeholders on behalf of clients
• Stay current with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards

Qualifications & Skills

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
• Significant experience in a UK public practice accountancy firm
• Strong knowledge of UK financial reporting standards and tax compliance
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver a high standard of service
• Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, TaxCalc)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
