Harrison Holgate in London seeks a Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role focuses on accurate reporting, analysis, and streamlined processes to support growth and stability.

You will work closely with underwriting and treasury functions to ensure timely, compliant financial outputs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in insurance finance, strong Excel and Sage 200 proficiency, and a track record of handling multi‑currency transactions and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an insurance finance role or similar.
• Proficient in Excel and Sage 200.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Experience with regulatory reporting and external audits.
• Ability to manage complex, multi-currency transactions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the general ledger for the company and underwriting pools.
• Prepare, review, and analyse monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Conduct monthly expense variance analysis and support cash flow management.
• Handle the monthly close process, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns, annual P11D returns, and support regulatory compliance.
• Oversee monthly payrolls ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Assist with annual expense budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and statutory audits.
• Develop and improve financial controls and reporting solutions continually.
• Support treasury, liquidity planning, and ad‑hoc financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Reconcile multi‑currency underwriting transactions, manage outstanding debts, and liaise with underwriting teams to resolve discrepancies.
