Senior Accountant – Practice Experience Required

Are you a seasoned accounting professional looking to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio and make a real impact within a well-established UK practice? We’re seeking a confident and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and be the primary point of contact for our valued clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Client Portfolio Management: Lead and manage a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring timely delivery of services and maintaining strong relationships.
- Accounts Preparation & Review: Company accounts, self-employed accounts, rental accounts, medium-sized company accounts, charity accounts, and consolidated accounts.
- Tax Compliance & Advisory: Prepare and review company and personal tax returns, provide general tax advice including R&D claims, ATED, MTD, and liaise with HMRC on tax queries.
- Software & Systems: Work with Sage (SAPA, CT, IT, Partnership, Trusts) and Xero. Willingness to learn new software packages is welcomed.
- Client Communication: Deliver professional and effective communication via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Process Oversight: Control work in progress (chargeable time), manage deadlines, and oversee credit control.
- Onboarding & Engagement: Prepare fee proposals, onboard new clients, and issue engagement letters.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years of UK practice experience.
- Experience working with outsourcers ( desirable).
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and review work efficiently.
- Knowledge of submission processes for accounts and tax returns.
- Experience preparing approval packs and handling client queries.
- Local candidates preferred (max 45-minute commute to office).
