Overview

Senior Accountant - UK | Financial Services

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant with proven experience in audit and external financial reporting, as well as strong understanding of IFRS.

You will become an integral member of the Company's global finance team, focusing on financial reporting, regulatory reporting, financial analysis and audit support.

This role requires a relationship-oriented finance professional to manage the general accounting functions in the UK. This is a very hands-on role that requires one to be deeply immersed in the General Ledger, the Management Accounts, Excel based reconciliation work and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities
  • Own the financial reporting and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations in the UK
  • Manage interim and year-end account reconciliations process
  • Cover accounts payable, receivable, payroll, monthly tax remittances, and general ledger work.
  • Maintaining schedules in Excel, creating and processing journal entries as they relate to the general ledger using Sage Intacct accounting software
  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements)
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts and budgets. Work closely with Senior Finance Team members who are located in North America.
  • Support the preparation of tax filings and liaise with external accountants and auditors as needed.
  • Ensure effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Requirements
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or overseas equivalent
  • Audit and external financial reporting
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably involving a multi-national group structure.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, V-lookups, Sum-Ifs)
  • Confident and professional communicator with a proven track record of advising senior stakeholders on financial matters.
  • A team player who would thrive in a collaborative culture
  • An understanding of European financial, banking, compliance and reporting processes would be advantageous
