Job summary

A global low carbon commodity firm is seeking an experienced accountant to manage financial statements and ensure compliance with IFRS and UK regulations. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel. Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly closing and annual financial statements for the UK subsidiary under IFRS.
  • Ensure all AR/AP invoices and expense statements are properly processed.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual UK VAT returns accurately.
  • Oversee day-to-day office management in London.

About This Position

What You Will Do

The primary areas of responsibility will be:

  • Prepare monthly closing and annual financial statements for the UK subsidiary under IFRS.
  • Prepare consolidation of the UK subsidiary and Singapore branch.
  • Ensure all AR/AP invoices, expense statements, and payments are properly approved and processed in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual UK VAT returns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform monthly group inventory valuation, impairment reviews, and reconciliations.
  • Manage monthly intercompany recharges and reconciliations, including revenue transfers and management fees.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely completion of statutory accounts, audits, and tax filings.
  • Ensure that all accounting processes comply with IFRS, internal policies, and relevant regulatory requirements (including the US National Futures Association).
  • Review and improve corporate accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Oversee the day-to-day office management and administrative operations of the London office.
  • Support planning and organization of company events as needed.
  • Collaborate with associates across divisions, departments, and locations to resolve accounting or finance-related queries.

Note that this role requires on-site presence at our office in London. Remote workers will not be considered.

Secondary Areas

  • Provide support for management reporting, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Assist in resolving ad hoc accounting system, reporting, or data integrity issues.
  • Participate in finance-related projects, process improvements, and system implementations as required.
Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Good working knowledge of UK VAT and corporation tax.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and consolidation tools (preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Solid experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a high level of personal accountability.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to present information clearly and efficiently to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of broad-based accounting experience, including financial reporting.
  • ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent accounting qualification preferred.
  • A mix of public accounting (audit/tax) and corporate accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an international or multi-entity environment is an advantage.
