Job description

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the accounting and reporting team within EUI Finance in Cardiff, responsible for co-ordinating and delivering timely and accurate month-end reporting, regulatory reporting, and statutory accounts. The role also involves managing and coaching other members of the accounting team.

We’re seeking an individual with experience in prioritising multiple deliverables and a clear understanding of regulatory and financial reporting processes and controls.

Main Duties
  1. Ownership of the month-end accounts for the UK Intermediary business, including liaising with other finance teams and Group Finance to resolve queries on consolidation.
  2. Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts.
  3. Assisting in the preparation and review of regulatory and tax returns.
  4. Reviewing work and journals prepared by team accountants.
  5. Developing and improving existing control and accounting processes.
  6. Leading the development and implementation of accounting processes and controls for new products or projects as part of the finance change agenda.
  7. Researching technical accounting issues and preparing accounting papers.
  8. Supporting external and internal audit processes and acting as a day-to-day contact for the entity.
  9. Line management responsibilities, including leading, developing, and coaching a team of accountants/trainees.
  10. Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager and Financial Controller.
  11. Deputising for the Finance Manager as necessary.
Key Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  1. Qualified Accountant with a minimum of - years post-qualification experience in a Financial Accounting role.
  2. Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  3. Experience in supporting and developing individuals to empower them to achieve outcomes.
  4. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, plan, and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  5. Excellent analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to challenge and influence a range of business stakeholders.
  7. Self-motivated and proactive in all aspects of the role.
  8. Understanding or experience working in the finance team of an insurance intermediary business.
Location

This role is hybrid, requiring attendance at our Cardiff office once per week. We provide all necessary equipment for comfortable remote work.
