Senior Accountant - Accountancy Practice

Location: Bridgwater, TA6
Salary: From £40,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (No weekends)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role

A well-established, full-service accountancy firm in the Bridgwater area is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. The firm supports a broad portfolio of clients, from sole traders to limited companies, across a variety of sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified accountant with strong practice experience who is looking to step into a client-facing, varied, and potentially progressive role.
Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of complex year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Completion of personal tax and corporation tax returns using Sage
  • Maintenance of bookkeeping records and preparation of management accounts
  • Reviewing quarterly VAT returns
  • Advising and liaising directly with clients, including support with Making Tax Digital
  • Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior team members
  • Involvement in a variety of professional services as part of an all-round accountancy offering
  • Potential to manage your own portfolio and progress toward an office management role
What We're Looking For
  • ACCA or ICAEW qualified (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in an accountancy practice
  • Proficient with Sage and other accounting platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction
  • Ability to work independently and support junior staff
