Job description

Hutcheon Mearns is exclusively working with a large, successful oil service company to source an experienced Senior Accountant on a full-time contract. This position will join their Aberdeen based team.

The Opportunity

This position is offered on a contract basis for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will deliver accurate internal and external financial reporting for UK entities. You will also provide financial information to management teams to facilitate decision making and act as the key interface with external auditors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with statutory accounts and audit process for the UK legal entities. Resolve queries internally which may arise.
  2. Assist with monthly management reporting and forecasts in group consolidation systems, including liaising with Corporate Accounting team to address queries/resolve issues.
  3. Provide expert technical advice and guidance with regards to application of IFRS / group accounting standards and group consolidation systems.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with new and emerging accounting standards, providing guidance and training to the wider business.
  5. Preparation/approval of balance sheet reconciliations, including responsibility to close out any identified discrepancies.
  6. Assist with the preparation of impairment indicators and subsequent analysis including investment impairment models.
  7. Any other tasks determined by management.

Background and Experience

  1. You will be a Qualified Accountant (CA/ACCA) or qualified by experience with relevant industry exposure.
  2. Strong technical skills and proven track record.
  3. Knowledge of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 is preferred.
  4. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, achieving deadlines and interacting with key stakeholders.
  5. Proficiency using SAP and advanced Excel skills.
