Job summary

JMG Group in Blackburn is seeking an experienced Senior Account Handler to join our office-based team. You will manage renewals, mid-term adjustments, claims, and client queries, while ensuring FCA compliance and high-quality service.

The role requires at least 3 years in an Account Handler role within a broker, knowledge of commercial insurance products, Acturis experience, and progression toward Cert CII.

Qualifications

• 3 years in an Account Handler role within a broker environment.
• Experience with FCA compliance and commercial insurance products.
• Acturis experience advantageous.
• Willingness to operate in an office-based role in Blackburn.

Responsibilities

• Renewals, mid-term adjustments, claims and queries processing with accuracy and professionalism.
• Proactively drive new business by identifying gaps in cover and presenting quotations.
• Maintain FCA-compliant processes and adhere to Conduct Policy guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong client-insurer relationships and provide expert product advice.
• Support Client Directors/Account Executives and assist during busy periods.

The opportunity

Our Blackburn office has a brand-new opportunity for an experienced Senior Account Handler to join their growing team. This is a key role that will be responsible for generating revenue and developing the profitability of the business whilst ensuring full FCA compliance in all aspects of commercial insurance. Our Account Handlers ensure a high-quality service is provided to all clients in accordance with their specific needs and requirements.

Key areas of responsibility include

• Ensuring accuracy, efficiency and professionalism when dealing with both client and insurer and conducting high quality work in relation to; Renewals, Mid-term adjustments, Claims, Queries, Premium Finance Arrangements as well as proactively driving New Business by working with the Client Director to identify gaps in cover and presenting quotations to the client.
• Ensuring all business activity fully complies with FCA regulation and company procedures as detailed in the Conduct Polices and Guides to Best Practice
• Always promoting exceptional customer care standards
• Developing and maintaining a professional working relationship with all clients and providing expert product advice and guidance
• Actively securing renewal business by re-broking existing business to ensure the client is presented with the most suitable and cost-effective cover
• Promoting and increasing the use of in-house premium finance, from insurer schemes
• Supporting our Client Directors/ Account Executives with duties where required
• Achieve and maintain a high level of customer service and promote exceptional customer care standards at all times.
• Conduct client visits where appropriate in relation to renewal meetings, claims reviews, mid-term reviews and/or surveys
• Produce Pre-Renewal documents and Renewal Reports
• Assist colleagues with workloads during busy periods
• Assist colleagues with queries/peer review when required
• Handle any complaints in accordance with regulation, the Company’s Conduct Policy and Guide to Best Practice.
• Conduct learning, training and assessment exercises in accordance with the individual T&C scheme applicable to you. Identify further areas for own development as required.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this office-based role, you must have the following skills

• Previous experience (3 years) in an Account Handler role within a broker environment
• Working knowledge of most commercial insurance products
• Experience of working to high standards of FCA compliance
• I.T. skills including use of an insurance IT system, ideally Acturis
• The ability to work to a high level of accuracy
• Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to build solid relationships with clients and insurers
• Regulatory and compliance awareness
• Willingness to work towards Cert CII or already hold qualifications
