Job description

Edelman is a voice synonymous with trust, reimagining a future where the currency of communication is action. Our culture thrives on three promises: boldness is possibility, empathy is progress, and curiosity is momentum. At Edelman, we understand diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) transform our colleagues, our company, our clients, and our communities. We are in relentless pursuit of an equitable and inspiring workplace that is respectful of all, reflects and represents the world in which we live, and fosters trust, collaboration and belonging.

About the Company

We are a leading global communications marketing firm helping business and organisations evolve, promote, and protect their brands and reputations. We are independent and family owned, which allows us the freedom to deliver original thinking and invest in our clients. In the UK, there are more than 600 employees based in our offices in Victoria. We create award-winning creative communication programmes for our clients who include Microsoft, Nissan, Disneyland Paris, FedEx, Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. We have deep expertise and advise on consumer trends, research, analytics and insights, corporate reputation, health, technology, capital markets, crisis, energy, and government affairs.

About the Team

The Associate Practice at Edelman represents the foundation of our client service talent pipeline, a unified structure designed to foster early career growth across communications, public affairs, and advisory disciplines. This practice encompasses professionals from entry-level to emerging specialists who support and drive client work through curiosity, collaboration, and accountability. It aims to build well-rounded, integrated practitioners who deliver exceptional work across the firm’s offerings while developing the strategic, operational, and leadership skills that define Edelman excellence.

Senior Account Executive (SAE)

Senior Account Executive (SAE) has distinct responsibilities, skill expectations, and performance indicators including developing leadership maturity by demonstrating growing confidence, judgement and solid communication. Supports day-to-day client interactions, mentoring juniors, and contributing to strategy.

The role Senior Account Executives (SAEs) are ambitious, motivated and proactive communicators who take ownership of the day-to-day running of multiple client workstreams. They are strong communicators with excellent writing skills and attention to detail, and act as trusted connectors between clients, teams and media or stakeholder networks. SAEs demonstrate emerging leadership by anticipating needs, solving problems proactively and driving work forward with confidence. They act as a key day-to-day point of contact for clients, own and lead specific projects and workstreams, and support and provide guidance to junior team members. They collaborate and integrate effectively with colleagues across different practices and teams, both in the UK and wider global markets, while contributing to strategic planning and the delivery of integrated communications programmes across earned, owned, paid and social channels.

Role Summary & Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership

Act a key day-to-day point of contact for clients, owning and leading specific projects and ongoing workstreams, as well as supporting broader day-to-day account activity. Build strong client relationships through reliability, responsiveness and consistently high-quality delivery, with the confidence to manage ongoing workstreams with more junior clients. Lead client interactions where appropriate, articulating a point of view with confidence and gravitas and proactively anticipating client needs, upcoming moments, issues and opportunities.

Strategic Planning & Program Management

Play a key role in the research, planning, brainstorming, development and execution of campaigns and communications programmes. Act as a driver of relevant workstreams, keeping deliverables moving forward, managing multiple priorities and supporting the day-to-day efficiency of the account. Coordinate effectively with internal teams and collaborate and integrate with different practices and teams on cross-business work, as well as working closely with global markets when required. Apply a solid and practical understanding of earned, owned, paid and social media, and how to incorporate these channels into integrated communications programmes. Take initiative on relevant workstreams, proactively put forward ideas, anticipate upcoming moments and ensure account activity continues at pace.

Content & Storytelling

Produce and edit high-quality client-facing content, including press releases, social media content, executive briefing materials, visual assets, editorial content such as social posts, infographics and video scripts, and client reports. Produce strong first drafts of client-facing content quickly and efficiently, with minimal edits from account leads. Demonstrate excellent attention to detail across content development and review, reporting and client deliverables. Bring a creative mindset to client work, assessing briefs and putting forward well thought-through suggestions on the most relevant storytelling formats. Translate research, insights and client priorities into clear, compelling content and storytelling that supports communications objectives.

Media & Stakeholder Relations

Create compelling corporate and consumer media angles and support proactive media engagement and outreach. Undertake regular media monitoring and support issues and crisis activity, identifying relevant developments and helping teams respond appropriately. Maintain a strong interest in current affairs, news and international business, consuming media in all forms and applying this knowledge to client work. Identify relevant media and social trends, insights and opportunities that can inform client programmes and campaign activity. Build and maintain relationships with relevant media and stakeholder networks, developing a strong understanding of the audiences that matter to clients.

Leadership & Team Development

Work effectively as part of large, busy, fast-paced and highly motivated teams, bringing a positive, can-do attitude to all team interactions. Support junior team members on day-to-day account activity, providing guidance and helping to maintain quality and efficiency across deliverables. Demonstrate strong project management and ownership, coordinating with colleagues and ensuring teams are clear on priorities, deliverables and next steps. Collaborate constructively with colleagues across practices, disciplines and markets, contributing to an integrated and inclusive team environment. Support new business pitches through research, slide development, media and social insights and pitch participation.
