About the RoleWould you like to be part of world-leading research that aims to improve the lives of children and young people supported by children’s social care services? The Rees Centre, based at the University of Oxford’s Department of Education, is expanding with two exciting opportunities to enhance its research program. The Centre produces research that helps practitioners, policymakers, and the research community understand and improve children’s social care and education.
Following the launch of our new five-year strategy, we seek a Senior Academic Research Leader in Children’s Social Care who will deliver academic excellence in this field. This role involves shaping and leading our research program on children’s social care systems and practices. You will be based at the Rees Centre, contributing to national debates on improving stability, experiences, and outcomes for children in care or adoption.
The ideal candidate will have a concern for and experience in translating research into policy and practice improvements. You should be a leading authority in psychological and/or social scientific research related to children in social care, with an outstanding international reputation and experience in social work. The role requires linking research in child development and CSC to broader theoretical debates in education and social sciences, fostering innovation and new insights in the field.
Essential skills include collaboration, teamwork, excellent teaching, and academic supervision in CSC. This full-time, permanent position welcomes applications from individuals with experience in the care system.
