Job Description:

Description: The AC Protection and Control Lead Engineer will be responsible for defining, costing, and delivering AC protection and control solutions in tender and execution projects. Detailed design and manufacturing will be sourced to sub-suppliers.

Your responsibilities

  • Translate customer specifications and protection schemes into conceptual designs, and formulate clear requirements for sub-suppliers.
  • Evaluate sub-supplier quotes based on specified requirements and future design considerations.
  • Monitor the design and manufacturing processes, leading the design team in communication with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Review detailed protection panel designs, including interfaces to main components and communication links.
  • Ensure compatibility of functional requirements, panel design, relay configurations, and settings prior to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Review supplier test programs and supervise FAT.
  • Assist remotely with installation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as needed.

Your background

  • Extensive experience in protection and control systems for MV/HV AC substations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Good understanding of relay protection schemes, including protection, control, measurement, and supervision functionalities.
  • Knowledge of various protective relay brands and their applications.
  • General knowledge in protection and control panel design, including business requirements and best practices.
  • Experience with power system studies and grid codes, capable of evaluating protection coordination and setting calculations.
  • Understanding of protection system configurations and testing requirements.
  • Experience reading technical specifications and managing sub-suppliers.
