Applications are invited from intuitive, enthusiastic and suitably qualified and experienced SENDCO for this exciting and rewarding post.

You will have an interest in Waldorf education & will play a vital inclusion role, working in partnership with the class teachers and Headteacher to ensure that you support the learning for individual or small groups of pupils.

You will also play a vital part of the safeguarding team as deputy DSL ensuring that early signs of intervention and support are closely monitored.

The SENDCO, under the direction of the Headteacher, will:

• Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEND) policy and provision in the school.

• Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or a disability.

• Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.

• The SENDCO will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, supporting classes with cover if needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Strategic development of SEND policy and provision

• Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND or a disability across the school, monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision through the use of agreed methodologies.

• Strategic overview of all Annual Reviews and transition/destinations reports.

• Contribute to school self-evaluation, particularly with respect to provision for pupils with SEN or a disability.

• Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies.

• The SENDCO will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.
