Job Role: SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

Working pattern: Full time

Contract type: Permanent

Full-time equivalent salary: MPS1 – UPS3 + SEN Allowance

Additional allowances: TLR 2c (£7,489+) per annum

Start date: September 2024

About the role

Do you have experience working with students with SEND? Are you looking for a role that enables you to lead in ensuring all students’ additional needs are met?

Requirements: All applicants must hold the NASENCO qualification and have experience as a school SENDCo.

The successful candidate will be a qualified SENCO committed to high standards and ambitious for the school, staff, and pupils. They will be capable of leading, managing, and inspiring pupils and staff, managing long-term objectives while handling daily priorities effectively. They should possess drive, vision, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to supporting pupils with special needs and disadvantaged backgrounds, working closely with vulnerable students and those with the greatest needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a calm, safe environment where high standards of behaviour and academic achievement are maintained
  • Model and promote best practices among staff
  • Lead initiatives to foster positive behaviour and attitudes to learning
  • Implement strategies to support vulnerable students in achieving, attending, and behaving appropriately
  • Build collaborative relationships with parents to support student behaviour, attendance, and achievement
  • Coordinate with external agencies to support students and ensure statutory protocols around SEND assessment and funding are followed
  • Oversee and lead quality first education, outcomes, personal development, enrichment, and progress for students with SEN and/or disabilities

About the school

Our Greenwich Secondary School is a small 11-16 school with 640 pupils across five year groups (Years 7-11), located in Greenwich, Southeast London. We received an Ofsted rating of ‘Good’ in January 2019 and are proud of our community and the pupils we serve.
