A local educational institution in Whitby is looking for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant for maternity cover. You will need:
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline OR appropriate experience, preferably as a Teaching Assistant
• Qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English
• Recent and relevant experience of working with children within an education setting, with complex needs
• The ability to adapt own approach in accordance with pupils needs
• Enthusiasm with a love of learning and seeking solutions to break children’s barriers to learning

Our Facilities

Pegasus Class
East Whitby was a trailblazer by launching one of the first provisions of its kind in North Yorkshire. OurPegasus Classwas also the first specialist provision of any kind in Whitby and the local area.
The space provides an inclusive bespoke education model for up to 12 children to enable them to meet their own academic and social potential. It is an inclusive space specifically designed and equipped to support children with a range of Communication needs. This can include children with a diagnosis of autism, speech and language difficulties or children who present with challenges in their social interactions. The provision is needs led not diagnosis led. Each child has a personalised timetable and educational program both within their mainstream class and the Pegasus classroom.
Our Opportunity
East Whitby Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a Level 2 Teaching Assistant (GTA) to join us for maternity cover. This shorter contract is ideal for candidates looking to develop into a SEND career.
You will collaborate with our SEND Unit Teacher and SENCo to champion our pupils to access the curriculum, take part in learning, and ultimately achieve their learning goals and personal targets.
