Job summary

SENse Learning in the United Kingdom is hiring SEND Tutors to offer one-to-one support for learners with SEND across home, in-person, and community settings, with trauma-informed approaches.

Roles are varied across specialist teaching, intervention tutoring, and SEND teaching, with flexible schedules and remote or hybrid options. You will be part of a community focused on brighter futures for every student.

We welcome applicants with QTS/QTLS, DBS, and a collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD in trauma-informed settings.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) and enhanced DBS clearance
  • UK-based with right to work; safeguarding knowledge and professional references

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with SEND learners across ages (KS1–KS5)
  • Provide in-person, online, and hybrid tutoring tailored to EHCP plans
  • Plan lessons and give regular progress feedback

SEND Tutor Role Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.
The SEND Tutor Role And Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
  • Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
  • Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 - KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young persons needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
  • Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
SEND Tutor Employment Status
  • This position involves engaging with us as a self-employer tutor/teacher
  • We provide guidance/signposting on accessing resources to register as self-employed if you are not registered already
  • This is not a PAYE position
