SENse Learning is seeking passionate tutors to provide one-to-one support for SEND learners in the UK across homes, community and online settings.

These roles are self-employed, offering flexible hours and non-PAYE engagement, with DBS assistance and ongoing pastoral support.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD.
  • QTS or QTLS certification required.
  • Experience delivering trauma-informed, child-centred tutoring.
  • Enhanced DBS and 2+ references
  • UK-based with right to work.
  • Ability to work across in-person, hybrid, and remote settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one support to SEND learners in homes, community settings, and online.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to EHCP requirements.
  • Maintain progress reports and provide feedback to parents or schools.
  • Collaborate with SENse Learning team for pastoral support.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and Safer Recruitment procedures.

You can begin to work in an impact-first role with SENse Learning. Our SEND Tutor roles allow you to provide one-to-one support for the most in-need young people, working across specialisms as a Specialist Teacher, Intervention Tutor, and SEND Teacher!

SEND Tutor Role Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.
The SEND Tutor Role And Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
  • Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
  • Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 - KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young persons needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
  • Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
SEND Tutor Employment Status
  • This position involves engaging with us as a self-employer tutor/teacher
  • We provide guidance/signposting on accessing resources to register as self-employed if you are not registered already
  • This is not a PAYE position
