Job summary

AP Education is seeking SEND Tutors to provide 1:1 support to learners with diverse needs in the Hull area. You will work with students from Early Years to KS4, delivering core subjects and SEND-specific content.

With a focus on SEMH, autism, and other needs, you will implement positive behaviour strategies, perform assessments, and collaborate with professionals to tailor interventions. Term-time hours offer flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
  • Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
  • Two years' relevant UK experience welcomed even without formal qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific content.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Provide therapeutic and adaptable education to meet individual needs.
  • Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments for targeted support.
  • Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
  • Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
  • Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings as appropriate.

SEND Tutors (1:1 Support) -Hull

Location: NorthLincolnshire

Hourly Rate:£20-£30

Flexible Hours:Up to30per week Term-time only

AP Education is pleased to collaborate with local authorities in delivering customised1:1 Alternative Provisionfor children and young people who are unable to access a mainstream education setting. We seek dedicatedSEND Tutors, SEND Teachers, and HLTAsin (AREA) and the surrounding regions.

You will be supporting learners with a range of complex needs, including but not limited to:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Autism
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties)
  • MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties)
Key Responsibilities

You'll provide face-to-face 1:1 support, working with students from Early Years to KS4. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivercore subjects(Maths, English, Science) orSEND-specificcontent.
  • Implement effectivebehaviour managementusingpositive strategiesand patience.
  • Provide atherapeuticand adaptable approach to education, ensuring each learner's individual needs are met.
  • Performbaseline academic and emotional assessmentsto inform targeted support and intervention.
  • Preparedetailed daily/weekly progress reportsand, where necessary, liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT, or Social Workers to facilitate a collaborative, multi-agency approach.
  • Manage daily attendancereporting via our attendance software.
  • Assist learnersin transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settingsas appropriate.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring children withSEND/SEMH requirements.
  • Background ineducation, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
  • QTS or HLTA certificationpreferred; however, applicants with a minimum of two years' relevant UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
