Job summary

AP Education is seeking SEND Tutors to provide 1:1 support in Hull for learners with SEND/SEMH. You will work face-to-face with students from Early Years to KS4, delivering core subjects or SEND content, and supporting transitions to mainstream or specialist settings.

Role requires compassionate, reliable individuals with excellent communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding. DBS Enhanced disclosure is required. Weekly pay and access to tailored resources are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
  • Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
  • QTS or HLTA preferred; however, applicants with two years UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific content.
  • Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies and patience.
  • Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, ensuring each learner's individual needs are met.
  • Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support and intervention.
  • Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals for multi-agency collaboration.
  • Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
  • Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings as appropriate.

AP Education is pleased to collaborate with local authorities in delivering customised1:1 Alternative Provisionfor children and young people who are unable to access a mainstream education setting. We seek dedicatedSEND Tutors, SEND Teachers, and HLTAsin (AREA) and the surrounding regions.

Key Responsibilities

You will be supporting learners with a range of complex needs, including but not limited to:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Autism
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties)
  • MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties)

You'll provideface-to-face 1:1 support, working with students fromEarly Years to KS4. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivercore subjects(Maths, English, Science) orSEND-specificcontent.

Candidate Profile:
  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring children withSEND/SEMH requirements.
  • Background ineducation, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
  • QTS or HLTA certificationpreferred; however, applicants with a minimum of two years' relevant UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
