Job summary

Brent Council is seeking a Team Manager for the SEND 0-25 Team based in Brent. You will lead a multi-disciplinary cluster-based team across nursery to post-16 education and drive the transformation of case work with partners to deliver outcome focused, cost-effective solutions.

Salary range: £58,461 - £61,653 per annum inclusive of London weighting

Contract: Permanent

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

Location: Civic Centre and other locations from time to time

About The Role

The Team Manager role will be key to leading and shaping the future of the SEND 0-25 Team in L B Brent. We have ambitious plans to create multi-disciplinary teams working a cluster-based model and you will be a key player.

You will lead a team working across all phases of education from nursery to post 16 and post 19 education including the transformation of case work with multiple partners to create outcome focused cost-effective solutions in all cases.

You will be part of a forward-looking management team who are ambitious and are currently creating a continuous improvement cycle learning from experience and feedback to ensure our service keeps moving forwards at pace with the SEND Reforms.

In This Role, You Will
  • Lead and manage a team of SEND Officers working in a cluster-based model
  • Participate in the management team working on the continuous improvement of the service
  • Represent the Council at Mediations and Tribunals
  • Ensure priority is given to the most vulnerable children and young people
  • You will be part of a larger multiprofessional team working in the Inclusion Service in Brent to introduce, embed and establish new ways of working in SEND including implementation of the SEND Reforms.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is already a SEND Team Manager or Senior SEND Officer or Co-ordinator
  • Is secure in their knowledge of the prevailing legislation and understands the implications of the SEND Reforms.
  • Has significant experience of people management both downline, upline and across disciplines.
  • Has the ability to be politely assertive with colleagues, partners and parents
  • Is willing to be present for their team and support them through the significant change to come
  • Understands the lines of accountability the statutory SEND Team answers to and is experienced in answering to them.
