A local authority partner in Liverpool is seeking a SEND Team Manager to oversee the management of Education, Health and Care plans. The role includes strategic development, line management of a dedicated team, and budget responsibilities. A degree and extensive knowledge of SEND reforms are essential for this position. This is a 3-month contract with a possibility of extension, offering competitive pay rates.

  • Manage relevant SEND budgets effectively.

Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a SEND Team Manager, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client's discretion.

Rate of Pay: £29.15- £38.65 per hour

Summary

The Senior Education Manager, SEND, holds lead responsibility for the effective management of duties related to Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans. The role is also tasked with leading the effective planning of placements across the mainstream, special, non-maintained, and independent sectors for pupils with EHC plans. This strategic leadership position oversees the SEND Team and ensures the delivery of the highest possible quality service to children, young people, and their parents.

Responsibilities
  • Taking responsibility for all strategic development of the SEND Team (responsible for EHC needs assessment and plans).
  • Directly line managing staff, including Senior Casework Officers (x5), Statutory Data and Performance Officer (x1), and SEND Placement and Referral Monitoring Officer (x1)
  • Taking lead responsibility for all recruitment and HR issues relating to the SEND Team.
  • Standardising and quality assuring EHC plans, providing timely and effective feedback to improve service delivery
  • Being responsible for the relevant SEND budgets, including non-maintained and independent schools budget, SEND alternative provision budget, other local authorities' budget (recoupment), and SEND Team staffing budget.
Essentials
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification
  • Extensive training in the SEND reforms and the SEND legal framework.
  • Recent experience of working within an educational or Children's Services environment.
  • Working experience and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the SEND legal framework

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
