SEND Teaching Assistant – Physical Disabilities – Stratford (East London) Location: Stratford, East London Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £89+ per day (depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only Employer: Axcis Education – specialists in SEND recruitment Overview: Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with physical disabilities at a vibrant and inclusive mainstream primary school in Stratford. This full-time role will see you working closely with the child, supporting both their educational and physical access to the school environment. The pupil uses a wheelchair and requires some support with mobility, toileting, and personal care, along with assistance in the classroom. The school has excellent facilities and a strong inclusion ethos. You’ll be joining a collaborative and experienced SEND team, with full training provided. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with physical disabilities Assist with classroom activities, lesson engagement, and equipment handling Help the pupil access different areas of the school, including playground and assemblies Offer personal care, including toileting, with dignity and sensitivity Use of hoists, standing frames, or mobility aids as required (training provided) Collaborate with class teachers, SENCO, therapists, and parents Monitor and report on progress and well-being Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment at all times The Ideal Candidate Will: Have previous experience supporting children with physical or medical needs (in school, care, or similar settings) Be confident, calm, and caring in delivering personal care when required Be physically fit and capable of assisting with manual handling tasks Demonstrate strong communication and team-working skills Have a positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn Be able to follow Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) Hold or be willing to complete training in manual handling, personal care, and safeguarding Possess an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one About the School: Inclusive mainstream primary with an established SEND team Supportive leadership and regular training for support staff Easily accessible by public transport from across East London Facilities include ramps, lift access, and an on-site therapy room Why Work with Axcis Education?
