Job summary

Leighterton Primary School is seeking a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in a well-supported environment. The role involves tailored EHCP-based support, adapting learning materials, and liaising with staff, parents and professionals to meet educational, social and emotional needs.

The successful candidate will be calm, patient, and able to work effectively in a team, with initiative and a nurturing approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in primary education is preferred.
• Understanding of EHCPs and how to support such plans.
• Ability to work calmly and patiently in a team environment.
• Willingness to liaise with parents, carers and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to a specific child/ren per EHCP.
• Implement agreed strategies and adapt learning materials.
• Liaise with teaching staff, parents/carers and professionals to meet needs.
• Support pupil on a 1:1 basis and in small groups; assist with behaviour management and routines.
