About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist setting supporting children and young people aged 2-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and non-verbal communication.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of pupils who require high levels of care, patience, and tailored support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD, ASD, and complex needs
  • Assist with personal care routines including toileting, feeding, and hygiene
  • Support non-verbal children using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver individualised learning plans
  • Promote a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in a SEND setting
  • Personal care experience is essential
  • Understanding of PMLD, ASD, and non-verbal communication strategies
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) desirable
