Job summary

Five Education in Taunton is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and physical disabilities. You will help pupils access the curriculum and participate in school life.

The role involves 1:1 or small-group support, adapting materials, promoting independence and wellbeing, and working with the SENDCo to implement strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND (Autism, ADHD, speech/language difficulties, physical disabilities).
• Calm, flexible and empathetic approach to supporting teenagers with varied needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and positive learner outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support based on individual needs and targets.
• Adapt learning materials and teaching methods for diverse learning styles.
• Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, and independent learning skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and SENDCo to implement effective engagement strategies.
• Assist students with personal care needs while promoting dignity and independence.
• Supervise students during breaks and lunch to ensure wellbeing and inclusion.
• Record and report on students' progress, behaviour and concerns.
